GAMBRILLS, MD – Mike Hanley, a sales representative for Atlantic Lighting & Irrigation, recently received the Certified Irrigation Contractor (CIC) certification from the national trade organization, Irrigation Association (IA).
Hanley, who lives on Kent Island and has been working for Atlantic Lighting & Irrigation since April 2006, has two years of irrigation experience and more than 10 years experience in the home improvement industry. Some of his job responsibilities include selling irrigation systems and meeting with customers to discuss the design and layout of the systems.
Since 1949 the IA has worked to promote efficient and effective water management and to represent the irrigation industry worldwide. IA certification is designed specifically for irrigation professionals to demonstrate their experience and technical proficiency in the industry. Approximately 20 irrigation professionals in the state of Maryland have one or more IA certifications, and three of those professionals currently work for Atlantic Lighting & Irrigation.
“Certification is good for the entire industry because it brings the industry to another level of professionalism,” said Steven Flury, owner of Atlantic Lighting & Irrigation. “Certification helps create efficient design concepts and effective water conservation, which are very important. One of the biggest returns on certification is that the entire nation benefits. So that’s why we support the Irrigation Association’s programs, participate as a company and encourage our staff to attain certification.”
Located in Gambrills, Atlantic Lighting & Irrigation has been designing, installing and maintaining landscape lighting and irrigation systems for private residences and commercial properties for nearly 20 years.
